A study of over 60,000 Oregon adults found that living closer to cannabis retail stores is associated with more frequent cannabis use (10+ days per month) but less heavy alcohol consumption (8+ drinks/week for women, 15+ for men). Effects were strongest among 21-24-year-olds and those 65+. Researchers recommend age-specific prevention policies to mitigate harms from legalization.
