Texas Original has opened a new 75,000-square-foot medical marijuana facility in Bastrop, Texas, nearly ten times larger than its previous 7,700-square-foot headquarters. Located at 176 FM 969, the facility integrates cultivation in a hybrid greenhouse, manufacturing labs for extraction and processing, testing labs, packaging, dispensing, distribution, and delivery logistics. This expansion aligns with House Bill 46, recently passed by the Texas legislature, which expands the state's Compassionate Use Program to include more conditions and delivery methods. The bill adds qualifying conditions such as traumatic brain injuries, chronic pain as defined by the Texas Medical Board, Crohn's disease, and terminal illnesses for patients in hospice. It also introduces new delivery options, including aerosol and vapor products like vape pens, moving beyond the previous restriction to only swallowable products. Nico Richardson, CEO of Texas Original, stated, "This facility represents the future of medical cannabis in Texas. Our expanded operations in Bastrop allow us to serve even more patients across the state, and with the quality expected from Texas Original. As legislative changes under House Bill 46 create opportunities for more Texans to access medical cannabis, we’re ready to meet that need." The expansion supports the growing demand driven by these legislative changes, enhancing access to medical cannabis for qualifying patients statewide.
