Local nurse Hannah Jones, neurologist Dr. Juan Gonzalez, and pharmacist Jason Sneed have opened The Healing Card and Elevated Rx, Dalton's first medical cannabis pharmacy, at 1507 Professional Court. Partnering with Botanical Sciences in Marietta for supply, the facility provides regulated medical cannabis for qualifying conditions including chronic pain, PTSD, cancer, Parkinson’s, ALS, Crohn’s, and more. Patients qualify via approved diagnoses (over 90% under pain or PTSD), uploading information to Georgia’s THC registry for a card issued in 1–2 days. Products from whole-plant oil include tinctures, gummies, chocolate drops, lozenges, topicals, and capsules (smoking remains illegal). Sneed offers consultations for low-dose guidance. Jones, with 19 years of local experience, noted reduced narcotic use in chronic pain and better access for cancer patients facing Marinol shortages. The pharmacy serves caregivers for minors with seizures/autism and hospice patients. Jones emphasized regulation and stigma reduction: “This stuff is highly regulated. It’s very different from the mom and pop smoke shops.” Georgia’s program, legal since 2015, previously lacked local access in the northwest region. Potential vape approvals may come in 2026.
