The Progressive Turnout Project has issued an alert warning that President Donald Trump and Republicans might "steal" marijuana reform from Democrats, urging supporters to join a "Marijuana Decriminalization Advisory Board" via a survey on decriminalization, rescheduling and electing more Democrats. The email highlights how anti-marijuana policies disproportionately target Black Americans and cost the U.S. billions, praising House Democrats' reintroduction of the MORE Act by Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and cosponsors, which aims to remove cannabis from the Controlled Substances Act, promote equity and address prohibition's effects. The PAC notes uncertainty about local Democrats' support for the bill, which has passed the House twice but faces slim chances under GOP control of Congress, the Senate and White House. Despite bipartisan trends in medical marijuana, reform support skews Democratic, with a Gallup poll showing a recent drop in Republican backing, linked to Trump's anti-drug measures like tariffs and military actions, resonating with his base. A June NuggMD-Marijuana Moment poll found most cannabis consumers disapprove of Trump's policies so far, though rescheduling or legalization could change views. A Trump-associated poll by Fabrizio, Lee & Associates revealed majority Republican support for rescheduling and state legalization rights.
