In a small study, co-users of tobacco and cannabis showed elevated brain enzyme FAAH levels versus cannabis-only users, altering endocannabinoid regulation of bliss-linked neurotransmitters. This may underpin higher addiction and mental health risks in co-users. Published in Drug and Alcohol Dependence Reports, the findings highlight unique neurochemical impacts, warranting larger studies on polysubstance effects.
