A man was arrested after an investigation at a vape shop in Norwalk revealed illegal cannabis products hidden under a trap door.
Norwalk police said they charged 28-year-old Mohamed Lebrahim as a result.
A search and seizure warrant was executed at the R&R Smoke Shop on Main Street on July 11.
Police said they have been cracking down on the selling of illegal cannabis and cannabis-derived products.
Certain products are allowed with a state-issued license.
In Connecticut, police said it is illegal to sell any cannabis product containing more than 0.3 percent THC without proper licensure. Also, the sale of marijuana is restricted to licensed dispensaries.
When they executed the warrant at the shop, police said they found a variety of products hidden behind an electronically-sealed trap door under the sales counter. The door was accessed through a hidden remote control.
Police said they seized:
95 pop-top containers, each containing 3.5 grams of marijuana
62 pre-rolled 1-gram marijuana cigarettes
18 bags containing 3.5 grams of marijuana
4 bags containing 7 grams of marijuana
5 assorted bags with 3.5 grams of marijuana
63 THC vape cartridges
8 bags of THC gummies (500mg each)
17 assorted THC edible products
Police noted that the legal THC limit for edible products in the state is 1 mg per serving. The edibles they seized exceeded that limit.
More than $1,100 in cash was also seized.
Lebrahim was charged with possession of more than 1 kg of marijuana products, possession with intent to sell over 1 kg of marijuana products, and use of drug paraphernalia.
His bond was set at $500. He was given a court date of July 24.
