Overview

Cherry Industries LLC, a cannabis facility at 6387 E. Nevada Street, Detroit, MI 48234, surrendered its license after Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) found multiple violations.

Violations Uncovered

  • Excess Plants: Held over 4,000 plants, exceeding the 1,500-plant limit for a Class C Grower License.

  • Untracked Product: Could not account for 4,200 pounds of cannabis in the state system. Another 41,000 pounds of wet weight from incomplete harvests went unreported.

  • Untagged Plants: Over 50 immature and one mature cannabis plant lacked state tracking tags.

  • Contamination: Banned chemical Bifenthrin found in cannabis flower.

  • Unsanitary Conditions: Employee beverage containers found on tables with cannabis products.

  • Surveillance Issues: Provided insufficient footage after multiple delays.

CRA's Response

The CRA issued a 16-count complaint after a 2023 inspection. Cherry Industries agreed to a consent order, permanently surrendering its license and agreeing not to renew or reactivate it.

Impact

The case highlights failures in compliance, tracking, safety, and transparency, per the CRA's statement.
