Ex-DEA Heads Echo GOP AGs' Call For Pot Rescheduling Hearing

Former DEA administrators and several GOP attorneys general are calling for a public hearing on the proposal to reschedule marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III under the Controlled Substances Act.

They argue that this would be the most significant relaxation of narcotics restrictions in U.S. history and emphasize the need for extensive scientific analysis and expert testimony.


This push follows the DOJ's recommendation to reschedule cannabis based on its recognized medical uses and lower abuse potential compared to other Schedule I drugs​
