Investigation
A deputy noticed a strong cannabis odor from a staff restroom. The BCSO Criminal Investigation Division identified Estrada as the last user. After initial denial, Estrada admitted to using the vape pen. Tests confirmed THC presence.
Consequences
Estrada, employed since April 28, 2025, was fired due to his probationary status. He cannot appeal or be rehired. Sheriff Javier Salazar praised the deputies for ensuring swift justice.
Context
Estrada is the 10th BCSO deputy arrested in 2025. The BCSO Public Integrity Unit handles the criminal case, while Internal Affairs conducts a separate investigation.
