A shocking revelation has surfaced, indicating that the staunch MAGA advocate, Matt Gaetz, stands to gain over $2 million from a cannabis enterprise, leveraging his connections within the Trump orbit.

A photograph of a document found on Gaetz’s laptop suggests that the president’s unsuccessful choice for attorney general was extended a lucrative agreement by the cannabis giant Trulieve. The purported deal involves providing "legal representation, consulting [and] administration-related guidance."

While specifics on the "administration-related guidance" remain elusive, Gaetz shares a close relationship with President Donald Trump. Trump openly commended the ex-congressman despite the controversies that ultimately derailed his political career. The image from his laptop was disseminated by the same individual who recently uploaded a TikTok video filmed from behind Gaetz on a plane, depicting him in a text argument with his mother about managing Trump.

The TikTok user also shared a picture of the contract proposal in the comments section beneath the initial video, captioned: "Gigantic font. No privacy screen on his phone, NOR ON HIS LAPTOP."

The video captured a live text exchange between Gaetz and his mother, Vicky Gaetz, who cautioned him against criticizing Trump regarding Iran. “Don’t be criticizing the president or his actions,” she messaged.

“MAGA will turn on you,” she warned. “The president has been a very good friend to you. He hates betrayal. Be smart, not stubborn.”

Gaetz responded, “I’m trying to guide him, not criticize him. Guiding DJT always includes a private and public component. I know how to do it.”

However, the additional leaked image implies that "guiding DJT" could prove quite profitable. It indicates that Gaetz would be eligible for $250,000 "if the MATTER resolves," followed by an "additional ‘Super Success Fee’" for “exclusive policy remedies.” Only a portion of this fee is visible in the video, starting with “2,00…” and is highly unlikely to be merely $2,000.

Neither Gaetz nor Trulieve has responded to inquiries for comment from the Daily Beast.

The "counsel agreement" from Trulieve seemingly proposes an unspecified “initial non-refundable” fee for the former politician upon his “commencement of representation” with America’s second-largest cannabis company, valued at approximately $660 million.

The exact nature of the “matter” to be resolved or the “Super Success” remains unclear. It could pertain to the discussed reclassification of cannabis from a Schedule I to a Schedule III drug, a cause Gaetz advocated for in a late March op-ed in the Tampa Bay Times. Alternatively, it might involve full legalization, which he has previously endorsed. Trump has presented himself as a proponent of cannabis reform, stating he would classify it as Schedule III – still opposing complete federal legalization but supporting safe-banking reforms, states’ rights, and "research to unlock medical uses." Nevertheless, after Trump assumed office, the Drug Enforcement Administration effectively halted a prior proposal by President Joe Biden to downgrade cannabis.

In his opinion piece, Gaetz asserted that the reclassification was “on the horizon thanks to President Donald Trump and his leadership in supporting the rescheduling of cannabis from a Schedule I drug to a Schedule III drug.” There is no indication that Gaetz was compensated by Trulieve when he authored the op-ed. He did not disclose any interest in that, or any other, cannabis company in his written piece.

This contract underscores the potential for individuals closely associated with Trump to financially benefit from their connection to him.

Gaetz, who began his career as a lawyer, withdrew from consideration to become Trump’s attorney general while facing a House Ethics investigation into allegations that he paid up to $10,000 to engage in sexual acts, including with a 17-year-old girl, during his thirties. Testimony from the woman claimed that Gaetz had sexual intercourse with her when she was a teenager on an air-hockey table while a party host observed. Gaetz has denied any criminal wrongdoing.

Trump’s chosen candidate eventually pulled out after CNN reported that the woman, who was 17 at the time, informed investigators she also had sex with Gaetz on a second occasion.

An attorney representing two women alleged that Gaetz participated in up to 10 orgies where illicit substances were consumed during his initial term as a congressman. Gaetz acknowledges that he partied excessively at the time, but asserts it was “embarrassing, though not criminal.”

Gaetz has long been a supporter of the medical cannabis sector. He stated he previously “introduced legislation to legalize cannabis because I understood that our outdated federal policies were failing patients, veterans and businesses.”

Gaetz’s political trajectory has declined since he was considered for appointment as attorney general in a second Trump administration. He was compelled to step down last year in the wake of the sex and drug allegations.

The controversy revolved around a federal investigation into whether Gaetz engaged in sexual activity with a minor and funded her travel – accusations he has denied and for which no charges were ultimately filed.

However, the scandal rendered him politically toxic, leading Trump to quietly abandon the idea of appointing him. He has since established himself as a MAGA-supporting media personality.
