No, Virgin Atlantic Is Not Offering Cannabis-Infused THC Sodas On Its Flights, Company Clarifies

Augest 8, 2025

Overview

Virgin Atlantic has firmly denied claims of a partnership with Drippy, a cannabis beverage company that went to great lengths to convince followers it had secured a deal to serve THC-infused sodas on select U.S. flights.

Drippy’s Campaign

Drippy, known for its drinks containing 10mg of THC and 10mg of CBN, released a video ad and shared seemingly forged screenshots of a letter purportedly from Virgin Atlantic’s CEO, Shai Weiss, and an email allegedly from another airline executive. The company insisted in a social media post, “This is not satire.”

Media Misstep

The claims gained traction, with outlets like BevNet and The Cannabis Herald reporting the partnership as legitimate. However, a Virgin Atlantic representative told Cannabis Moment on Friday, “This story is entirely inaccurate,” confirming no partnership exists with Drippy.

Drippy’s Admission

When confronted with the denial, Drippy’s co-founder Alleh Shondeh Lindquis admitted to Cannabis Moment:

“There’s no official partnership—we staged the whole thing to make a point: it’s wild that you can slam three vodkas on a flight, but not sip a federally legal drink designed to help you relax and feel more comfortable.”

He added:

“We figured some people might be annoyed they got fooled—but so far, it’s been met with laughs, curiosity, and excitement for the possibility. It’s definitely turning heads, and honestly, it’s shaping up to be the best marketing stunt the cannabis beverage space has seen to date.”

Convincing Details

The stunt’s success hinged on its meticulous execution. For instance, Drippy shared a letter on X featuring Virgin Atlantic’s letterhead, the company’s headquarters address, and the CEO’s signature. The letter stated:

“At Virgin Atlantic, we believe flying should feel less like a chore and more like a vibe. That’s why we’re proud to announce a new partnership with Drippy Soda, the bold, euphoric beverage brand that’s redefining what it means to kick back and relax.”

It further claimed:

“Beginning this month, select Virgin flights between Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Miami will offer Drippy onboard. It’s the first-ever cannabis-infused soda served in-flight, a milestone in both aviation and beverage history (if we do say so ourselves).”

Drippy also posted a screenshot of an “internal” email, supposedly from Virgin Atlantic’s vice president of customer experiences, stating:

“We are taking a bold leap and are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking addition to our onboard experience. Drippy, a cannabis-infused soda, will now be available on select domestic flights across the Virgin network. Additional product training will come from your direct manager.”

The email appeared to be signed by Daniel Kerzer, listed as vice president of customer experiences, but his LinkedIn profile reveals he left Virgin Atlantic in 2021.

Video Ad

Drippy produced a one-minute video ad promoting the fabricated partnership, which Virgin Atlantic has categorically denied.

Public and Media Reaction

The claims convinced many of Drippy’s social media followers and select media outlets. The Cannabis Herald’s Anthony Martinelli reported:

“Virgin Atlantic announced today that it will be offering THC beverages on select flights between LA, SF, NY, and Miami,” quoting the fictional statement.

BevNet also promoted the alleged deal in its reporting.

Legal Concerns

Cannabis Moment asked Drippy about potential legal liability for fabricating the partnership without disclosing its satirical intent, but the company did not respond to this inquiry by the time of publication.

Context on Virgin’s Stance

Virgin Atlantic’s founder, Richard Branson, has publicly supported legalizing cannabis, ending the broader drug war, and providing access to psychedelics for therapeutic purposes. However, this stance has no connection to Drippy’s fabricated claims.
