Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Secretary of Health and Human Services, reportedly continues using psychedelics despite long-term sobriety claims, as implied in a forthcoming book by journalist Olivia Nuzzi, who allegedly engaged in a digital affair with him during his 2023 campaign. Nuzzi's "American Canto" describes an unnamed "politician" admitting to recent DMT use and other psychedelics, with details matching Kennedy's timeline per The New York Times review. Kennedy has publicly championed psychedelic therapy for mental health, criticizing past FDA restrictions and pledging expanded research and veteran access within his first year at HHS. He has recounted personal positive experiences, such as an LSD trip in youth, and attended recent summits featuring psychedelic discussions alongside Trump officials. As an advocate, Kennedy seeks to reschedule substances like psilocybin and MDMA from Schedule I to enable therapeutic use. The revelations raise questions about personal conduct amid his role overseeing drug policy, though HHS declined comment.
