WASHINGTON - Cannabis sales in Washington have been falling for the fifth straight year, with 2025 potentially reaching their lowest level since 2019.

The Washington Department of Revenue reported that sales totaled $277 million in the first quarter, nearly $100 million less than during the pandemic peak in 2021.

The State Liquor and Cannabis Board attributed the decline to an oversupply, which has driven prices down and reduced revenue to pre-pandemic levels.

If the trend continues, Department of Revenue figures indicate that 2025 could see the sharpest drop yet for the state's legal cannabis market.

This ongoing decline has significant implications for the state's economy and those involved in the cannabis industry, highlighting the challenges of managing supply and demand in a fluctuating market.
