Cannabis Company Rebounds
Eaze, a cannabis company, opened its first San Francisco store in Haight-Ashbury on Monday. Founded in 2014, Eaze faced bankruptcy last fall. Its original entity, Eaze Technologies Inc., sold assets to a new company, Eaze Inc. This new entity runs the store and delivery app.
Store Details
The store is at 1685 Haight St.. It employs a general manager and 10 staff. Eaze also operates stores in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Orange County.
Industry Challenges
California’s legal cannabis sales have dropped for four years. The state raised the cannabis sales tax from 15% to 19% in July. San Francisco sales also declined, due to high prices and illegal competition, per the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration.
Future Plans
Eaze aims to open more Bay Area stores. “California is the heart of the cannabis industry,” an Eaze spokesperson said. “It drives culture and innovation.”
Haight-Ashbury Growth
The neighborhood is seeing new businesses. Green Heron replaces Hobson’s Choice, and Mary’s on Haight replaces Trax.
