Innexo, a Dutch cannabis contract research organization in Meterik, partnered with Innoveins Seed Solutions and SeQso to create the world’s first AI-driven cannabis seed-sorting system. The technology scans seeds non-destructively with spectral data, grows them to track traits, and applies algorithms predicting characteristics like cannabinoid and terpene profiles. This enables quality control, pathogen detection (e.g., hop latent viroid), and genetic certification for F1 hybrids, reducing cloning reliance for consistency. CEO Dominique van Gruisen notes it fine-tunes starting material for robustness, meeting pharmaceutical demands for 98-102% reliability. Innexo bridges growers’ yield focus with pharma’s data needs while reviving legacy genetics. Collaborations include Fohse on precision LED lighting for metrics like morphology and efficiency. The innovation advances reproducible, high-standard cultivation trials and addresses regulatory challenges in cannabis production.
