Jennifer Jensen, a 36-year-old mother and influential figure in the Kansas City cannabis industry, was killed in a car crash in Independence on December 27, 2025. She was a passenger in a Ford Ranger driven by her partner, with her 12-year-old daughter in the backseat, after leaving a family Christmas party. A Chevrolet Silverado driven by Mason McIntyre, 20, ran a red light at high speed, striking the passenger side. Jensen was pronounced dead at the scene; her daughter sustained a lacerated liver, bruised lungs, a broken collarbone, and a cut above the left eye but is recovering; her partner suffered two broken femurs, a broken hand, and other injuries. McIntyre, found with a beer bottle and smelling of alcohol, had a blood alcohol level of .186 two hours post-crash, over twice the legal limit. He was charged with DWI death of another passenger and two counts of second-degree assault, pleading not guilty on January 6, 2026, with a $100,000 bond and a review set for January 14. Jensen was remembered as kind-hearted, supportive, and magnetic, working with Grön edibles early in her career, later running her own marketing business, and employed at From The Earth dispensary where she was nominated for Employee of the Month. She helped others, including homeless women and her brother who entered the industry through her influence. Loved ones described her close bond with her daughter Emery, whose father died in 2015, and noted her love for sports teams like the Kansas City Comets and Sporting Kansas City. A GoFundMe for funeral and medical costs exceeded $28,000, surpassing its $12,000 goal, with $5,000 donated by From The Earth. Family and friends expressed grief, anger, and a desire for full legal punishment for McIntyre.
